• Her headset is connected to an external battery pack that supplies her with artificial psionic energy throughout the day, to keep her body functional.

2) I AM GOING TO WRITE A STICKY NOTE TO THROW CHARACTERS AT GHURAB MORE. @A@ One way or another! I love her void rot so much still, both as a concept and with her fucking disability aid device - I need to have Sipara flounce more at her over that in particular, too.

Do you figure artificial psionic energy is a common thing in the technology field, or something that she had to manually figure out how to make herself?

3) I am completely envious of those two's worldbuilding still, and this. Reminds me that one of the weekly posts should totally be to let folks talk about their personal worldbuilding / settings, since there'll probably end up being a large variety.

2) Yes PLEASE do! I think we have a Sipa/Ghurab convo on voidrot if you want to pick that up? Once you're not chipping away at the friendsim project, that is! :D That stuff is top priority.

I think... [i]maybe?[/i] And my logic there is that all energy is made from specific structures and process, which, with the right materials and conditions, could be replicated. Biological material, to us, might be super complex to replicate, but trolls already [i]have[/i] biotech. I think they probably figured it out pretty early on! It's just that artificial psi probably doesn't have the direction and control [i]real[/i] psi has, because it's kind of like a plane without a pilot: Sure, it's powerful, and it could potentially fly, but unless you get someone skilled behind the wheel, it's not going to be super impressive.

Ghurab has definitely *augmented* her power pack, but I haven't decided how much yet. I def don't want her to be an Electricity/Psi Expert(tm) but I think she's probably tweaked its processes a little for efficiency/ease? Beyond that, though, most of her augmentations are cosmetic! That's why her headset has little wings on it, she thinks it's cute. She has other accessories for it, too, she just likes the wings best.

Aleida was the only one who came with their lusus design! They were my first "real fantroll", so they set the precedent for this style I used to draw them and Ghurab. Their core concept was "troll who is technically an heiress, but instead spends their time surfing" and I said, "wouldn't it be great if they could surf on their lusus's back?" Ergo, sea pancake. Pelagic stingrays specifically move by "flapping wings" rather than wiggling their little "skirt," and the bird-like motif, I think, fit with the idea of "the sign of the free," so I just rolled with that! They named their lusus "Ray," because it sounds like the most "surfer dad" type of name ever.

Ghurab's lusus was harder. I actually figured out everything AROUND her before I figured out the lusus... Once I settled on her name (comes from the name of Gamma Corvus) and her entire personality & world, I decided I love "small animal made huge" lusii, so I ended up grabbing a crow and making it big. The angler fish light entered the scene because Rinceau is themed after stained glass, so having something light-related fit with that, imo. It took a looong time :')
